Steelers make final cuts to trim 2016 roster to 53As per their official team website, the Steelers have made all the cuts and transactions necessary to get down to the mandatory 53-man roster ahead of the 4 p.m. deadline.The final 22 players released include: receivers Demarcus Ayers (a seventh round pick), Cobi Hamiltion and Marcus Tucker; running backs Brandon Brown-Dukes and Cameron Stingily; offensive linemen Shahbaz Ahmed, Antoine Everett, Matt Feiler and Wade Hansen; Cornerbacks Montell Garner, Donald Washington, Al-Hajj Shabazz and Doran Grant (a fourth round pick in 2015 who was cut last preseason before being added to the practice squad and promoted to the active roster late in the year; defensive linemen Lavon Hooks, Caushaud Lyons and Johnny Maxey; linebackers Travis Feeney (a sixth round pick who was injured for a portion of training camp, missed the first preseason game and did nothing of note in his final three exhibition games), Steven Johnson (a veteran free agent signed in the offseason) and Jermauria Rasco; quarterback Bryn Renner (made expendable after Pittsburgh claimed Zach Mettenberger off of waivers on Wednesday); and safety Ray Vinopal.The team also waived/injured tight end Paul Lang.
